Mini-Groups in Reflex Integration and Neurological Movement
with Interactive Metronome
all levels (for Writing, Reading, Learning, Emotion Regulation, Memory, Focus, Organisation, Behaviour)

April 22- 26 Tuesday - Saturday 9:45 - 10:30 AM: PRIMITIVE REFLEX INTEGRATION, INCL NEUROLOGICAL MOVEMENT WITH INTERACTIVE METRONOME
Group led by 2 therapists - our Melillo Method therapist and a pediatric physiotherapist
5 MINI- GROUP SESSIONS limited spots
4 participants and 4 parents per group
6 components of the program:
-
Reflex Assessment
-
Targeted Exercises
-
Vestibular Stimulation
-
Oculomotor Training
-
Sensory Integration
-
Neurological Movements
For who: for children and young adults at all levels of functioning and with different diagnosis, or without a diagnosis
5 protocols incorporating these components:
-
Session 1: Foundation - Reflex Assessment and Targeted Exercises
-
Reflex Assessment: Parents will be guided on how to observe and assess 8 key primitive reflexes in their children (e.g., Moro, Grasp, ATNR).
-
Targeted Exercises: Parents will learn 2-3 simple exercises per each reflex to begin integrating identified retained reflexes. These exercises will involve specific movements to inhibit the reflex and promote mature motor patterns.
-
-
Session 2: Balance and Coordination - Vestibular Stimulation and Neurological Movements
-
Vestibular Stimulation: Parents will learn safe and gentle techniques to stimulate their child's vestibular system (e.g., gentle rocking, modified spinning).
-
Neurological Movements: Parents will be taught specific movement patterns (e.g., cross-crawl) that promote communication between brain hemispheres and improve coordination.
-
-
Session 3: Eye-Brain Connection - Oculomotor Training and Sensory Integration
-
Oculomotor Training: Parents will guide their children through simple eye-tracking exercises to improve visual tracking and coordination.
-
-
Session 4: Rhythm and Timing - Interactive Metronome and Neurological Movements
-
Interactive Metronome: Parents will learn how to use Interactive Metronome exercises with their children, focusing on synchronising movements with the beat.
-
Neurological Movements: Integrate rhythmic movements with the Interactive Metronome, such as marching or clapping in time.
-
-
Session 5: Putting It All Together - Integrated Activities and Home Program Review
-
Integrated Activities: Combine elements from previous sessions (reflex integration exercises, vestibular stimulation, oculomotor training, Interactive Metronome) into more complex, integrated activities.
-
Home Program Review: Parents receive a detailed 2-month home program, including a schedule and instructions for continuing the exercises at home. The program will be tailored to each child's specific needs and progress
